I originate from Stoke on Trent where I trained as a registered general nurse and worked for 7 years on various wards prior to relocating to Sussex in 1997.  I was appointed by Crawley & Horsham Hospitals as the Stoma Care Nurse specialist in May 1997 working on a part time basis.  I also provided some cover for Princess Royal Hospital when Sheila Pyzer retired.  In 1999 I took on the additional responsibility of the colorectal cancer patients.  Following the merge of Crawley and East Surrey Hospitals I transferred and worked full time at East Surrey where I am now based.  During the past 10 years I have gained additional qualifications in both the stoma care field and that of cancer care.  I have two girls aged 15 and 10, and in my spare time I am secretary of our local Netball club.

I have been in post since April 2005.
I work between all three hospitals, carrying out both clinics in Horsham and Crawley.
Previous to this post, I have worked as a registered nurse for 10 years and in that time have had opportunities to work in three states in Australia, including Sydney, Perth and the Northern Territory which I found very rewarding.
I am at present furthering my education and undertaking degree which I will finish in April 2007.
I have also previously completed a short course in journalism to enable me to understand the basics of writing articles to help me develop my own knowledge and share my experiences with others.

I have been in post since September 2006. Working at East Surrey and Home Visits.
I qualified as an Enrolled Nurse in 1976, I worked for six months in Psychiatry, until a post became available in Accident and Emergency, where I worked for six years, until I had my family (two daughters now aged 26 and 23). While they were young I worked as an agency nurse, with a variety of jobs, from ITU, Ward work, working as a nurse in X-Ray, Nursing Homes and Clients own homes.
I then was an Assistant Matron, then Matron/Home Manager, for several years in a Residential Home.
In 1996, I began working on a Urology ward as a Staff Nurse, here I undertook my conversion course and became a Senior Staff Nurse. I became interested in Stoma Care and undertook The Foundations in Stoma Care Course in 2004.
