Hi Any diet can work for us but most of us find salad and fruit a problem as these items are not digested properly - I personsally have tried quite successfuly with the Atkins as i myself love a lot of meat and it doesn't have to involve lots of fat you just cut out carbohydrates so no pasta, potato and bread and I lost a lot of weight but speak to your stoma nurse and see what they suggest
Excercise should be as a normal person just make sure you are not lying on a full bag or not to squash the stoma too much if you have to lie on them abdomen

Hope this helps

Hi Kira.
I was talking to someone about this just yesterday.
I too lost a lot of weight on the atkins diet, but very soon after had my first flare up of colitis.
Although I `m pretty sure the diet didnt cause the colitis, the consultant does think that the high fat, red meat and diary intake could have contributed to it coming on.
Saying this, I am going to start an Atkins-ish diet, not so much red meat , fat or diary, but really cut out my carbs.
Good luck to you, let me know how you get on.
(I posted a reply to you on the main IA forum earlier today.)

Mary
