I have been Secretary since 1996/97 and have had my Ileostomy since 1983. I am an Avionics engineer ( aircraft electrician) for BA and work shifts as well as my ia duties. Fortunately my boss is very charity friendly which is why I can be seen with the stand at most if not all of the local open days organised by the nurses and suppliers. I enjoy holidays in the sun around the world and walks in the country.

Now delivering flowers part time. Interests include long country walks (with a pub), sport especially cricket and sunny holidays mainly to Greece and her beautiful islands. I’ve been an Ileostomist since 1978 luckily with no problems.

Hi. My name is Liz Fincham and I am responsible for getting your ia Journal and Sussex newsletter to you each quarter - I've been fortunate to meet some of you at our meetings but would like to meet more of you,so COME ALONG!
I had my Ileostomy surgery at RSCH back in 1976 and since then have had 2 or three revisions, resulting in Short Bowel Syndrome but am still hanging in there. I was originally a member of Surrey ia,and was on the team that formulated the split into Surrey and Sussex, and I've been there ever since.
My 'proper' job is as Senior Radiographer in Brighton, and like my fellow committee members  sometimes find it hard to keep all balls in the air at once - yet another undisguised plea for Committee members.
Seriously we are a great crowd who enjoy meeting socially, but have the satisfaction of knowing that we are well-qualified to offer help and support if needed;or we know people who can!

There never seems to be a dull moment in my busy head teacher’s life. Wife of a now retired policeman I have at 53 much to value and still many challenges to face. I became an ostomate 16 years ago and joined i.a. because of my strong conviction for the vital need for good support and a strong public voice for ostomates in times of need.

I've just recently joined the committee as the voice of youth. I am available for anyone wishing to speak to a younger person. I am 33 years old and I have had my Ileostomy since May 1999. My interests are music watching DVD's with my hubby and looking after my babies (20 Guinea Pigs). I will probably be joining Dave at the local meetings where I will try and encourage some younger people to come so it's not just old people there, us young people have stoma's too.
